*Abstract*_______________________________________________________________________
_________
Predicting evolution is both a fundamental test of our understanding_____________
_________
of evolutionary processes and a management necessity. Forecasting________________
_________
biodiversity loss depends on accurately projecting how novel environments________
_________
will disrupt existing adaptation and predicting the capacity for new_____________
_________
adaptive responses. New theory and empirical data are needed to build,__________
_________
test, and refine these different areas of prediction. This symposium will________
_________
bring together researchers working across systems and approaches to share________
_________
the latest theory, case studies, and critical tests needed to evaluate the_______
_________
potential and limitations of predicting evolution. We welcome theoretical________
_________
models of evolution in changing environments, genomic forecasting,_______________
_________
evolve & resequence experiments, and studies of reaction norms or rapid__________
_________
evolution in wild populations responding to environmental change. The aim________
_________
is to share new findings and ideas to spur integrative research on how,__________
_________
when, and where we can accurately predict evolutionary responses.________________
_________
_________________________________________________________________________________
_________
Why do we do this symposium?_____________________________________________________
_________
The potential for adaptation to rescue populations facing rapid__________________
_________
environmental change has brought renewed focus and urgency to the________________
_________
longstanding goal of predicting adaptation. Massive temporal and spatial_________
_________
genomic datasets combined with growing data streams from high-throughput_________
_________
phenotyping and remote sensing provides promise of major advances,_______________
_________
but our tools to mine these data, our conceptual frameworks, and our_____________
_________
integration across sub-disciplines are limiting the pace of progress. To_________
_________
encourage integration and spur new solutions we propose to bring together________
_________
evolutionists focused on predicting adaptation working in disciplines____________
_________
including landscape genetics, experimental evolution, population genomics,_______
_________
and evolutionary theory. This multidisciplinary symposia will provoke____________
_________
a much needed conversation on best practices in the design of studies,___________
_________
the sharing of data and code in global repositories, and key areas for___________
_________
analytical and theoretical advances._____________________________________________
